Default how to increase idle speed?

how do I increase the idle speed on the 1jz?
My ps pump is acting up and I have no power steering under 700rpm.

you can adjust the throttle body cable.

You can change throtle position sensor or add vacuum line bypassing idleup valve on pump

On the throttle body there are stop screws for the throttle cokc

Adjust the TPS, not the throttle cable or set screws. A higher TPS voltage will have a higher target idle duty.

It on the right side (you standing and facing of the front car) of the TB. It the black part.

Whoa. Hold on a second. I'm not entirely sure you are correct.

To my understanding, the TPS is to let your computer know when it is on idle or off of it.

That is pretty much it. If you mal adjust it, it will either think it is in idle when its not, or off idle when its not.


The only way I know to raise idle is to do a couple things.

1) drill a small hole in the throttle body to allow slightly more air in when its closed

2) Adjust the stop screw so that it pushes the throttle body slightly open to allow more air in.


If you do the second option you MUST re adjust your TPS as per FSM specifications. This way, the tps compensates for the raised rpm, recognizing the new value (>700rpm) as the new "idle".
