No heat?
Hi there. I'm new to the forum, and posted some pics in the 'Introduce Yourself' thread. Still waiting on approval for the post I guess cause its not there yet.
Anyhow, I've got a 92 SC400, 60k miles, timing belt changed at 57800, back in 07. The only reason I mention the timing belt is that after searching the forum here about my problem, I've noticed posts about the thermostat and water pump being changed when the timing belt is changed. I don't know for sure if either of those were done.
Anyhow, the AC works great, the fan blows fine, there is just no heat. I'm mad that I didnt check that when I was thinking about buying it. It was probably 90 degrees, and all I was concerned with was the A/C!
The temp gauge never goes above the first line even on an 85 degree day. I'm wondering if the previous owner used straight antifreeze with no water, and that's why there isn't any heat. Should warm air be present if the indicator goes barely to the first line on the gauge? Any other thoughts or ideas are welcomed.
Thanks

Can I check the level on the overflow bottle? I remember reading in a thread to check the actual radiator, not the overflow, but I dont see where I can check the radiator.
And I dont know what happened to my original post. I edited it because the pictures were coming up with a red 'x' and now its gone?

The coolant wasnt the problem, aparently there is a control that allows water to go into the heater core that was faulty. My mechanic said Lexus wanted around $400 for the part, but he knew an $80 GM version that did the same thing, and with a little wiring swap, it went in just fine. So far so good. Im not that thrilled that its not perfectly stock, but I am glad to save $320.
