Default 95 MAF to clean or not to clean

OK, Im picking up a used MAF to see if it will get rid of a bogging issue. Im assuming it is not a hot wire type, so wouldnt it be good to spray it out before install with MAF cleaner?

A BIG NO.

I killed the Karmen Vortex MAF on my 93 SC400 by cleaning it with MAF cleaner, other members had similar experience.

Just blow it out with air, don't take the chance with cleaning sprays meant for hot wire MAF.

Yeah as a matter of fact, I had sprayed mine out a year or so ago. The owners manual should come with a warning.

interesting...I cleaned mine on my 95 with that maf cleaner from autozone (CRC?), I had awesome results. I got about a 4mpg increase in fuel economy and I feels much more responsive than before. I made sure to take my time with it and give it enough time to dry afterwards...

Im thinking my MAF is bad, and my car idles perfect when hot. #1 what is the correct way to clean a used MAF before install? #2 Does anyone know of a way to check the MAF sensor with an ohmn meter instead of having to back probe the wires of the plug in?

I know Im bumping my own thread, but Im getting a good used MAF and will compare ohmn meter readings against the old one. If the new one fixes the prob. then Ill have some info.

Do not spray a KV MAF, it will kill it.

The only specs you'll find for testing it actually test the IAT sensor, not the MAF. There is nothing really in the RM about actually testing the MAF itself.
