SC400 turbo or super
I have a 92 SC400 with 40,000 mi. I am less concerned with off the line performance than Hwy driving. Which would you install? I supercharged my 97 Landcruiser, (TRD), and have driven a turbo version. I liked the turbo better. Now its time to do a little work on the SC. I am not looking for huge boost, just enough to have more passing power.

There's a thread on this already....Do a search. Good info on it and you do not have to repeat. Most subjects have been written on in the SC Forum....

Note: The SC400 is expensive to build, but so is an SC300 for lots of power. For a rather inexpensive Turbo SC400 set-up, check on Steve Chumo's set up. Inexpensive (For turboing), and fairly easy to do.

$5k for 365hp? i can pull more power from a honda civic for cheaper, let alone my na-t setup on my sc..
i think some of you 350+whp 1j/2j/na-t guys need to chime in on this one..I would say more, but at 9psi with stock injectors/HG I dont know for sure how much hp I am making, but I spent 1/4 of the cost of that supercharger on my na-t setup and with a few more tweaks and maybe another $1k +/- make twice the HP..

yea, but it is still a Honda Civic My MO is to make a great hwy car. I drive twice a month between where I live and Vancouver Island, ( about 1200km ), and like the luxury and comfort of the SC400 for the long drive. It passes ok, but a little more power would be great, and I don't mind spending a little on such a great platform to make it even better. I did the same with a LX450. Supercharged, 6" lift, 4.88 gears, lockers, full armour etc.. Yea, I could have done a jeep for cheaper, but I can now drive to the Rubicon trail in comfort, drive the trail and drive the 18hrs back, all in great comfort at 80 mph, without breaking stuff. Same for Moab. Thats what I like about cars. The only limit is your imagination and pocketbook. Everyone does things differently and no one is really wrong.

well now that you put it in that perspective I can understand your choices a bit more clearly..comfort and reliability, but just enough power to go with the looks..sorry, I can be a bit biased towards power over comfort

v8 supercharged
For the extra power both are great options. HWY pulls I would go turbo because you wont need worry about lag this lag that from line bs. Both are reliable if done right. You will have to keep a closer eye on the turbos vs the supercharger. I think either way you go it's a LBS per LBS you will always get more out of a turbo though. Just because it doesn't require a pulley to make it work.
