1 UZ-FE performance upgrade w Temp Sensor replacement?

Man 30 min. of plastic removal. Be very careful when unplugging the 2 wire plug to the coil thats over top of the sensor it has a very light clip on the plug and if you squeeze it to hard it will snap.

No sealant and there was a fact. copper washer, the antifreeze will want to start weeping out, so just start the new one in right away and torque it down. Mine with 135,000 was pretty corroded.

Drove the car today with A.C. on just as the day before, no sluggishness when leaving stop signs. The car felt smoother and more tuned. When the car is in O.D. and you pull down to 1400-1600- RPMs it still has its light miss, must be a diff. issue, Prob. either injector wear, or MAF glitch. I did have the battery unhooked over night to reset ECU, guess we'll have to see how it does long run, so far, the best its ran.

Over40,
Be very careful trying to service your "MAF"
You actually have a piezoelectric filament, air flow meter (AFM) and it does not like to be sprayed with any solvents!!
This is definitley not a part you ever want to have buy new!

damon,
are you talking about the hotwire maf sensors when you say piezoelectric filament? Only 96+ sc400's are equipped with these and there is a spray you can buy at almost any auto parts store that is specifically designed to be sprayed on hotwire sensors.
A hotwire maf sensor has a wire heated up to a certain temperature, and depending on the amount of air coming in, the resistance of it changes. Therefore the voltage that can go across changes.
92-95 sc's have a karman maf sensor that has an led that reflects light off a mirror and measures the number of vortexes created by the incoming air. I am not certain if its safe to spray this maf cleaner on these types of sensors but I have seen it done without problems.
Just wanted to clear up any confusion.

Not sure what year they changed on the LS series.
90-94's model have a Karmann Vortex AFM which utilizes a piezoelectric filament. Several folks (me included) had very negative experiences with the specific MAF cleaner.
