It's not too bad without ABS except when it's rainy. I've only locked up the brakes twice in the last year. Once while autocrossing in the rain, and once when I hit a patch of gravel on a backroad. I'm not in Colorado in the winter anymore, so I'm not too concerned. Since you're in NY though, I would definitely advise you to look into it...I used my ABS all the time in the snow.

Update: TGIF everyone!

Got the spacers on and figured out why my power steering felt so stiff. I actually forgot to hook up this one plug that was just hanging. Now the steering feels back to normal, which is a little loose for me( i like the tightness of bmw and benz and audi) so I might unhook it again.

So I took it out for a spin and that car feel and sounds great. I am not really into loud muffers so my borlas sound just right and the turbos and bov sound great. I just had an issue with the wheels rubbing when I hit a bump with my 19's in the front(245/35). So I am going to roll the front fenders. dont knw if i should just roll the back to because the dont rub.

So I am running tein ss coilovers and they dont feel that stiff to me, I think i turned the dampening all the way to the stiffest location but still feel to soft to me. Does anyone know how to get them feeling stiffer? Or do I need to get some other coilovers?

Sell the Teins and get some Megans or some Stances.

So those will give a better ride than the teins?

I want something close to the stock ride but a little stiffer. I need to be able to take some bumps with them

If thats the ride you're looking for go with the Stance. The Megans are pretty stiff, but the Stance handle great but give a comfortable ride.

Update:

I am starting to get used to the tein ss coilovers, just need to roll the front fenders and its all good. I will let the suspension settle in for a little because i redid everything while waiting for my swap parts.

Car is starting to come together now. Will post some pics once I get her all shined up nice and neat.

This rubbing issue is driving me crazy and now i am hearing about rubbing and the tire tearing up a wire harness! WTF!!!! What wire harness is this that they talk about cause i dont see it but dont want to run into any issues like they mentioned? Does this happen with 97+ sc's and ones that have been 1jz swapped?

Nice Swap!

I live in Cali where the cops like to check your engine for anything shiny... Everytime I see a sweet SC swap I just wish I could have a 1JZ dropped in my ride.

I was curious how much horsepower you have with your current set up as well as how the fuel mileage is. I've heard of some great fuel mileage from the 1JZ's and i'd like to see what you have experienced.

Thanks man, much appreciated!

Havent gotten a chance to Dyno it yet but I have gotten a chance to open it up on a audi 2.7TT with about 380hp and a porsche 4s with about 345hp and I was able to get both of them off the line up to about 60-65mph before they started pulling.

So far my fuel mileage is roughly the same as my stock sc300 but I have been constantly getting on it so i have to check it out when i start driving it like a normal car again.

I will let u know when i get it dyno'd and what my mpg are looking like

You should be able to thread the harness along the top side of the fender well and make it work.
