1uz starting issues
this seems to be a odd issue, but i just swapped in my 1uz into my mkiii supra. as of right now its missing all the o2 sensors and there is no maft plugged in. The problem i'm having is the motor doesnt start on the first try. what it seems to do is the first 1-3 starts it will start then die. then the 4rth start it will run but it will be idling rough (idling up and down). then on the 5th try i can shut it off and restart it and it idles perfect. what can cause this? is it because i dont have a maft installed?
the car has a walboro with a 12v mod installed, and the only codes i get after the motor runs for a bit is the o2 sensor and afm.

You need a maf on there or it will run like garbage end of story. Why are you missing the 02 sensors? Are you running the stock exhaust manifold? If you have the option of plugging the 02 sensors back in do it. My car has the same issue it just needs to warm up for like a minute or two. Remember to adjust the idle screw on the throttle body I had to do that. If the the motor your using is after 96 I am not sure that I could help you. The stock exhaust manifold fits. You need to either remove the drivers side exhaust shield or dent it in cause it will rub. My 1UZ MK3 drives like a charm just need to do a tune up on it. BTW are you doing the w58 also?

right now everything is missing because its in the process of a TT conversion, so headers are facing foward and o2 sensors wont fit. i just wanted to make sure the motor was in good shape before i started the fab work. it idles and revs very smoothly without the afm. its just that initial start which i found odd.
