Default SC 300 gas pedal sticking?

I recently bought a 1995 SC 300, and today the gas pedal stuck. I was coasting down an inclined freeway on ramp, and when I went to accelerate, the pedal would not depress. I rolled to a stop on the road shoulder, jammed against an unmoving pedal a few times. Finally something audibly snapped and the accelerator has worked normally again since. Any experience with this kind of thing? I need to figure it out - on I-5 suddenly dead in the water could mean suddenly dead.

more than likely you have a lot of carbon build up in the throttle body causing the throttle plate to stick....that or your throttle cable is failing and coming unwound inside the sheathing, causing it to stick.

I had this problem and all it was was carbon build up. I cleaned my throttle body up real good and haven't had a problem since. I checked my cable to just to be safe and it was fine. Just clean it up a bit, you mite even get a little more pep out of your car too.
