I checked out that thread before I started. My setup does not look like his. His IACV is attached differently. I have no plans to take the whole IACV assy off ... just take the cover of and clean the interior. I just got back from buying a longer screwdriver.

Wish me luck ...

OK, I tried to remove the last screw at the bottom and the SOB stripped. I am putting everything back together and hoping that the jostling I gave the IACV does not affect performance. I am going to wait until the fall to tackle this project again as it is too hot right now.

BTW, I haven't re-read this entire thread but does anyone know what size/type replacement screw I should get for the bottom?

Thanks ...

This is the part number for the sc300 iacv screw: 90079-11030
I am assuming it is the same, but please verify.

Was wondering if the IACV is the ISC sensor between my TPS and subtps (w/traction)? And if so, do I disconnect plug and take it out to clean? Do you have to recalibrate with voltmeter? I guess my confusion stem from acronyms IACV = intake air control valve
IAC Valve = Idle air control valve or ISC= Idle Speed Control. Because the IACV of the ACIS is right by the Y pipe I believe, and the other is by the throttle body but just to clarify.

thanks

I had my IAC cleaned by Vinam and it solved my problems of occasional low idle and stalling

Thank you , mole!! , I recently installed a cold air intake on my 93 SC 3, and everything you explained with the idling is exactly what was happening once I fired it up , I tried resetting the ecu and that did not help, so I was frustrated not knowing what was wrong!! when I get it done I will report back , thanks alot!! for the thread!!

For what it's worth, NEVER clean MAF Sensor on Lexus'/Toyota as they have their own cleaning mechanism inside. You'll f@$% it up if you do! How do I know? Because I DID IT! Matter of fact on the can of CRC MAF Cleaner it reads, "NOT for use in Lexus' and most Toyota's." And they're not kidding, lol. I ruined my MAF Sensor and had to replace it and am still having idle problems (93 Lexus SC300). Gonna try doing what this thread suggested. Thanks!
