2.25" is good, any more than that and you lose low-end. As for the rest, be sure to get an x-pipe and depending on how loud you want it, install resonators or not and mufflers.

I know, have seen, and heard Red Phoenix's car. He has a 2.25" Cat-back with a magnaflow x-pipe, no resonators, and Blitz Nur Spec mufflers. It sounds like the car is making love to you. Only problem is that Nur Specs are almost impossible to get and they cost way too much. His old setup was great too which is what Im going to do. Same catback setup except he was using Magnaflow 14829's, made it sound really mean, nice deep tone.

Spell check and grammar for god sakes.

Many people go with a custom setup. Such as their choice of mufflers and catalytic converters along with a shop doing custom piping for them. A very common universal muffler used by many SC owners is the Magnaflow 14829. Tanabe now makes an axle-back exhaust for our SC's. It is a beautiful setup but it is kind of expensive. Personally I love the Blitz Nur Spec mufflers. It all depends I guess on how much you are willing to spend and how much louder you are wanting your exhaust to be.

I like the custom deal because you can take it all the way to the downpipes and get a true dual setup going. These engines are quite restricted by the stock exhaust due to the pinched bends, long center pipe instead of a balance pipe, and the smaller piping altogether. 2 1/4 piping, Magnaflow Xpipe, and Magnaflow mufflers on my setup are not overly loud. They are deep and grunty and it makes a borderline exotic sound, no other car sounds like it. I love it, plus I think the Magnaflow tips fit the '97+ rear bumper perfect. Upon changing the system from stock, there was a dramatic gain in mid range/hi range power. Definitely noticeable, especially after about a week or so. Here's the only pics I have that kinda show the mufflers/tips

I like my exhaust although probably a little extreme for an NA 400.

No cats, IMF (formally EK Tuning) headers, 2.5 inch mandrel, 1 Magnaflow tru-x dual in / out and 2 Magnaflow straight threw mufflers in the rear.
