Default LSD ?'s

Hello Gentleman,

I am almost finished doing my 1jz swap with the R154 tranny. I have changed to a one piece driveshaft and now i am considering changing my lsd.

I wanted to know the advantages and disadvantages of either a changing to a mk4 tt lsd or leaving the stock auto sc300 open diff in the car?

no more 1 wheel burnt outs... umm I guess the Limited Slip is the biggest reason why. I don't know what your goals are but maybe also the gearing might change too, and that can be a good thing or bad thing.

I can't stand the 4.10 w/R154 going down the highway. The auto is like 4.27s right? That'd make the rpms even higher at 60-70mph

The main advantage is that LSD/torsen helps you hookup better.

i thought the gearing was supposed to be 3:76 in this set up, am I mistaken?

so what gearing ratio would i be working with if i am going to use a torsen t-2 parallel lsd?

ok the supra mkiv breaks down like this: the rear end ratio depends on the options. the 5 speed tt has the highest gear and the auto non turbo has the lowest. if you look at the car its coming out of you can tell what ratios it has by the tag under the hood. Its a stamped metal tag that says"trans/axle" and next to that it will list the trans model first (w58 for ex.) then a letter, 2 digit number, then another letter. The first letter describes the diff as: A=open diff B=torsen LSD and the #'s mean: 01=4.083:1 02=3.769:1 03=3.267:1 ratio.

so if you want a higher gear for fast driving and road racing then grab a diff out of a tt 5sp and if you want drag racing then go with one out of a non turbo automatic and if you want a little of both go with turbo automatic. I hope this helps a little.

I wanted to know what are the types of LSD's that would be able to work and fit in the sc300 pumpkin.

1. MK4 auto TT
2. Torsen t-1
3. Kaaz
4. Cusco
5. ???? GS400
6. ???? SC400
7. ???? Torsen t-2

Let me know what you have down to your sc300s that have LSD and not the open diff matched with a 5sp either r154 or w58.

Thanks guys, as I believe I am not the only one with this question. I just want to be able to find the easiest lsd swap for a 97 sc300 auto going to 5sp r154
