my first Lexus
I'm about to purchase my first Lexus next week. It's a 93 SC300. My friend is already talking to me to try and convince me to do the GTE swap into it. But I've been researching tho Toyomoto kit. What is your opinions. I kind of like the idea of the GTE swap, just b/c nobody around here believes it can be done. Even though, I've showed them pics of Clint Pohler's. But oh well. What do you guys think??

just so you know...the toyomoto turbo kit is alot easier to install and allows you to keep your current motor..alot less labor charges for the install....and yes the GTE conversion can be done and toyomoto can do it for you also....they have a 92sc300 6spd with a GTE motor and T88 there finishing right now ....illl get some pics for you...but toyomoto can handle any of your turbocharging needs for your lexus Jeff

Jeff is a walking, talking example of what the 2JZ-GE engine can do. They're are fewer headaches to a turbo install than swapping the entire engine out. BTW: do you have a 5sp?

thanks supra coup..ill take that as a compliment........i have tried hard over the years to help out people in there quest for a perfect all around car...with speed and style..i believe the sc300 turbo is the closest thing to perfrection....great sleeper too..i have never kept a car for more than a year..im working on 3 years on my sc300...and im still not bored of it...as a matter of fact its in the shop getting more work and i miss it like crazy........cant wait to get it back and redyno and get some more kills.....if your car is auto than i highly reccommend just getting a toyomoto kit...the swap over to GTE motor becomes alot more involved on a swap from auto to manual...Jeff

2jZ GTE swap
Clint is starting his second conversion, so I guess he was happy with the first.

and clint has more money than most of us combined....lol....the most cost efective was it turboing your motor...and your not replacing a perfectly good motor....you dont have to hope you get a good motor when you buy a used gte motor.....ya know?...5500 will get you a hell of a starter kit...Jeff

Jeff, that's a great point alot of guys never seem to consider, how do you know that GTE hasn't seen like 2bar of boost from some knucklehead? Figure even if the GE in a guy's SC3 had 125k miles, at least you'd know you had a short block that has never seen boost in any form, and therefore couldn't have been subjected to the kind of abuse Guido in his Supra might do when his fat little fingers crank up the boost controller. I've juiced a hypereutectic motor for awhile, taken it apart, and found 7 out of 8 pistons damaged in some way, and the motor still ran nice, just a timebomb waiting to explode.....
