All of the '99 & 2000 Sc 300s I've looked at state 4 spd auto tranny. I thought I read somewhere that the '99 & 2000 got the 5 spd auto. What do you think?

All 92-00 SC300 came with 4spd autos. Only the 98-00 SC400 came with 5spd autos. They all came with a gated shifter setup starting in 98.

I'm pretty sure 98-2000 SC300 came with a 5spd auto. not 100% on that one, i think they're supra autos. I have the factory manual for my car, i'll confirm in a bit. Oh, after doing the r154 conversion, i didn't lose top speed (another confirmation i suppose)

Hence, the reason why the pre-98 SC owners prefer gated shifters from a 98-00 SC300 is because they want the markings for a 4spd and retrofit/wiring is somewhat easier.

All SC300s that came with automatics are 4-speed automatics.

hate to bring back a seemingly dead thread
But seeing as you can swap the 5 and six speed transmissions from a 2jz to the 1uz can you swap the 5 speed auto from the sc4 to an sc3?
i know i know boo on autos but i ABSOLUTELY hate manuals in traffic which we have far to much of in Calgary

it might work but you would have to run a custom ecu set or full standalone ecu because those trans are elctronicly controlled

Would something like the Suprastick trans contoller let you do it with out the standalone ecu?

nope if I am not mistaken the supratick works with the ecu might wanna pm 2.5Tsoarer for that question hes running it on his 1JZ swap SC
