Default If you cleaned your engine (1uz) and this happens....

.......runs like crap. Backfires (through both the exhaust and intake) and throws a code 13, check connector EC1.

It is located underneath the cover on the driver's side of the engine. The cover that is between the oil fill cap and the data link connector. There are three connectors, the middle one is for the front fuel injector. The one towards the rear of the car is connector EC1 and it contains all the wiring for the crackshaft and cam shaft sensors.

Mine was full of water, sprayed some contact cleaner into both sides of the connector and blew both sides out with air and all is good!

Just thought I'd share.

If your going to water hose your engine, wrap up sensitive electronics with saran wrap or aluminum foil.

Listen guys, I started this thread to give a possible cause for trouble after washing the engine. There are plenty of other threads on the subject (search) if you don't have the same fix as I did.

Wasted time and troubleshooting.

Stop washing down your engines! They put a hood w/ weather stripping on it for a reason.

Use some wd40 and a rag..you wont have these weird electrical gremlins.

The bonus to wd40 is that it displaces moisture, and leaves a nice luster and can take the grease right off your ignition wires, vacuum hoses etc.
