Default Conflicting Part Numbers

I'm in the process of replacing the water pump in the SC400 (along with all the other items, since I am that deep into the motor) and was researching the part numbers to see if Toyota could get them cheaper than the Lexus dealer...

From the site there, I found the Thermostat for a SC400 has 90916-03120 & 90916-03084 as the part number.... I tried to check with the Lexus dealer first to see what they have and they said they do have two part numbers, but they need the VIN to get the correct number.. Is this correct?? I thought a 1UZ was a 1UZ (aside from the from the newer ones with VVti)...

mine is a 90916-03120...I know because I'm looking at it right now, I called up Lexus awhile back and they have never heard of that part, so I'm guessing that the other one is more expensive or something like that

why dont you go to your local advance auto or auo zone and order both one form the lexus model and one from a toyota version with that engine in it..and then if its the same order it form a toyota dealer.. at advance auto parts once u got a part number from your car model theres a way to find out what parts that part fits into what car.. trust me i work there.

Thanks for the input guys.... I ended up getting home in time to get the VIN and call the dealer... With my VIN, the part number was the 90916-03084. I then took the part number and talked to the Toyota dealer and the price was exactly the same... So I will just get the Lexus part.... Never had good luck with the ones from the local auto zone before....
