Default Starters? Best one to get?

Picked up my '94 SC300 5spd finally. Recently the starter has been doing the click/click/click no turn after short stops (engine still warm) Let it cool down, or tap it with the jack handle and all is good.

Wondering what's the best starter to get?

My background is in domestic cars so whenever I replace one of those starters I always just go with a high torque/gear reduction starter like a Powermaster. Never had any luck with a parts store rebuild/reman, never last me more than a year.

Your starter solenoid is going out. Toyota sells a rebuild kit for it. This is common for Toyota starters. There's no need to get a new starter, just rebuild the one you have.

Know the part number off hand? I'll try searching for it when I get home if not.

Call your local toyota dealer and tell them your problem. They should know exactly what your talking about. Both of my local dealers stock half a dozen of them at all times.

If you had an Sc400, Id say OEM... But since you have an Sc300 doing a rebuild would be just fine.

Your old starter probably has a lot of miles on it, Id suggest a new aftermarket unit from your local parts house.
