Get yourself 3 quarts of Toyota T-IV ATF from a toyota dealership (about $5/qt) and then follow this tutorial....

He says it drains about 2 quarts, but I found I needed almost 3 quarts to get it to the proper level after the fluid change. If you want to change the filter, you can but it is not necessary. Remember if you do, you'll need to reseal the pan with either the red goo Toyota uses or get yourself a rubber gasket. Auto parts stores carry both the gasket and filter in a kit for around $25. Also, if you do drop the pan, it can be a bit tricky to get the dipstick tube aligned but leaving the dipstick in place will help getting the 2 parts back together. Not hard but can take a few hours if you've never done it (just did it myself last week).

Agreed that and also if you are taking the tranny pan off you need to clean off the magnets off all the metal. It would also be good to buy a tranny filter also to make sure nothing else is flying around in there.

On a side note, I do a fluid exchange every spring. Just before it gets hot, I'll drain it and refill it. Keeps the fluid pretty clean. I've had the filter changed one time and had a shop do it as they gave me a great deal if I recall.
