matts kit will work on the GS400 and 430, although i believe the 430 does have an issue with not seeing the auto transmission so a little tricking may be involved. GS400, youll just need a custom driveshaft. witch im working on.

I've seen a lot of advertised manual trannies for 89-92 Supra as the W-58? Is it the same the SC300 manual tranny and Supra 93-98 Supra 5 speed? Does it have the same bell housing and shifter as the SC300/ 93-98 newer Supra? Could anyone confirm this? I'm just confused.

Yep, the tranny and bellhousing are the same. I'm not positive on the shifter, though. RedPhoenix used the extended shifter on his and his tranny came from a MkIV, but I'm not sure how common the extensions are or what they consistently came on.

I recommend using the SC300/MK4 W58 because of the tail shaft. The SC300 MT driveshaft will bolt up to those transmissions but not the MK3 or other ones.

Save yourself a headache.... buy the SC3/MK4 tranny, not the MK3 or other W58...

Did you save any weight vs the auto?

I'm thinking about a 4.7 from lextreme but I'm concerned about the Iron block upsetting my handling. How much does the W58 weigh vs the auto trans?

Although, even if I save the same weight with a man trans as I gain with the 4.7, it's still moving the weight upfront, and promoting more understeer

I am about to see what impact that 80lbs extra of engine will have on the cars handling. I am also worried about it but hope good coil overs will help overcome it.

The 2JZ weighs about 65 more lbs than a 1UZ right? So it SHOULD handle close to the 300.

But as I said, the 4.7 V8 with a manual trans disrupts the weight balance even more by shifting that 80lbs(More like 110 with your supercharger btw) further forward.

Basically what I'm saying is that, even if the transmition saves you 110 lbs, you screwed up the handling because the car weighs 110 lbs more in the very front and 110 less in the center.

It seems to me that, handling wise, remote turbos would have been a better choice than a supercharger.

Just thought of this solution: Invest in a CF hood and fiberglass fenders

I weighed my 6 speed against the stock auto and found the difference of less than 20lbs. If you really trhink about it the sc300 manual would be really close to what you are proposing. Also remeber the SC300 Engine is longer which hangs the weight more over the nose too. I dont think its going to be to big of a deal.

The W58 is a lot lighter than the auto transmission... I suspect the V160 to be more than the W58.
