Do you only use 93 Octane in your SC300?
I have been using 93 octane in 1996 5 speed sc300 since I got it since that is what the car says on the dash, near the gas cap and in the manual. I figured they really meant it. But I have met other sc300 owners in person that say they use 87.
If I could use 87 without damaging anything I'd like to but it seems to me a good idea to follow the manual.
What do you guys use?

The gas cap (and for you Americans, the gauge cluster) says Premium Unleaded Fuel only, so that's all I use. Standard premium here 91 octane, but Sunoco sells 94. I have never really noticed the difference between 91 and 94 in my SC400.

premium only no matter where i am or what the price of gas is.
i know for a fact that the SC is very prone to oxygen sensor damage and failure. the only correlation i could make over the years was cheap gas.
when i worked at a shop pretty much servicing toyota/lexus products exclusively i did plenty of oxygen sensor replacements on all years and models across the board. i would ask customers some questions. not necessarily to help me fix the problem but also for my personal knowledge and be able to diagnose vehicles better and more efficient in the future.
i have noticed that people that use regular gas all the time are more likely to have o2 sensor failures. it may be a coincidence but i doubt it since it have happened so much. i always use premium in all my cars(sc300, infinity i30, nissan quest, toyota sienna) and i have never had an oxygen sensor related issue...knock on wood

Depending on what brand you use, the premium gas might have better additives in it. Like shell only puts their "v-power" in the best grade of gas. That means its gonna burn cleaner which would explain why the o2 sensors last longer.
Also on MOST cars the higher octane fuel provides better mpg. I know my old 5s-fe camry got a good boost on millage when i accidentally put in 91 octane.
Plus you will have increased power running on 91 (or 93 if your lucky enough to have that) v 87.
