I'm interested in replacing my differential mounts. Lexus calls them cushions. Has anyone replaced these on their sc? I haven't been able to find much info with searching.

why do you feel you need to replace them?

what is your car doing(or not doing) that makes you think you need new ones?

Sometimes they make clunking noises when hitting the gas. Those aren't that fun to do in the car. You have to use a press out style tool I forgot the exact name for it ,but that is what you will need. You would have to take out the rear frame and do it on the floor where you can properly reach it. That job pays around 8 hours or so.

Recently took a look at them and noticed they are starting to crack. Also my flex coupling has cracks in it. Which is expected for rubber thats fifteen years old. Just something I figured would be worth changing since I've just about changed out every other mount and rubber bushing...

no need on the differential mount bushings unless they are literally falling apart or making noise... way too much work to fix something that probably isn't broken, and most likely won't ever be...

now, the driveline donuts will eventually come apart, but they take about 10 minutes per to replace and are relatively cheap...

What about the "center support bearing" on the drive shaft? Would it be worth while to replace that after 220k miles?

get the factory service manual and follow the instructions for inspection and if its bad then also for replacement. just because the car has a lot of miles doesnt mean parts are automatically bad.

the center bearing will usually start vibrating or making a lot of noise when its bad. i think i have only done one when i worked at a toyota/lexus shop and its was on a mk3 supra....those darn pieces of turd

I have all three manuals. I just figured with that much mileage that bearing probably isn't as smooth as when it was younger.
