Default Clutch stuck engaged

My clutch won't disengage. A few nights ago I was doing a quick 3-4-5 pull and when I went to slow down to turn I couldn't get the clutch to disengage when downshifting. There was no smells, grinding, chatter, popping at any point before during or after that. I drove it home shifting without the clutch and had to turn the car off at every light and throw it in 1st and then turn the motor over until it got enough speed to start up. Anyone have any ideas of what broke? Clutch pedal still feels like it has normal pressure. Car still has W58 with a stage 3 clutch in it.

Oh yeah all fluids are topped off too

how many miles on the clutch? how hard was it driven? pressure plate might be gone. or even the slave cylinder. but if you say the pedal still feels the same then it may not be the hydraulics (master and slave cylinder).

Clutch and PP both have under 1,000 miles on them. It wasn't driven hard at all before that pull

what brand clutch and pressure plate are you using? If it came off of fleabay that might be a clue...

Also even though it seems like you have pressure your master or slave cylinders may still leak internally. Do you have any free play at all when you step on the clutch? (the distance between where you begin to step on the clutch pedal and the point where resistance is felt)

Sounds like a pressure plate or a throw out bearing

It was a Spec Stage 3 clutch kit. I'll try and see if there's any freeplay in it tomorrow. For some reason I don't think there was any at all after that but I can't really remember

Chances are that you didn't adjust for freeplay when you had the clutch installed. Did you install it or did someone else install it? If you didn't have any freeplay you might have had premature throwout bearing failure. The bearing fails because it's always contacting the diaphram of the clutch housing. I think this is unlikely because you said there wasn't any noise to begin with. First get a friend to push on the clutch pedal while you look under at the slave cylinder action (driver's side of the transmission). If you see the slave cylinder not doing anything or is barely moving, then the hydraulic system is at fault. to save trouble of guessing between the master and slave cylinder, replace em both to be sure. If the slave is moving properly, then the problem is internal and you'll have to drop the tranny out to see what the deal is. good luck

slave affects engagement
master affects pedal

replace your slave and you should be good.

Alright guys. Finally got some time to mess with this and found my slave is definately not the problem here. And there is a normal amount of freeplay in the clutch before it starts to engage. I highly doubt it's my TOB causing this so anyone got any other ideas?

Is it common for the PP fingers to mess up in SC's?

What brand of clutch as previously mentioned? Did you replace the throwout bearing?

Jack it up and have someone depress the clutch pedal to see if the slave cylinder rod moves. Also look at the crank pulley to see if it moves forward, at all, when they push on the clutch pedal.

May have to pull the trans to find the culprit.
