rev limiter at 4200rpms???
hey guys,
i have had a CEL, so i pulled the codes yesterday. i got air temp sensor, airflow meter, and main o2 sensor. i also had a random misfire from thje #5 cylinder due to a bad/arcing plug wire.
so i replaced the plug wires and it is smoother, but still lightly jerks while cruising on the highway with any load (like going up a hill or something). if i unplug the AFM, it has no effect on the way the car runs.
while on my maiden voyage tonight after replacing the plug wires, i noticed that there is a definite rev limiter at around 4200 rpms under all conditions (neutral, park, drive, etc.) could this be caused by the AFM ecu code? also, are there any other conditions that can trigger the bad AFM code?
i am really hoping i don't have to buy a new AFM... but from what i've been reading on here, it's a common problem with these cars, which is unfortunate.

if you unplugged the MAF and the car still runs crappy, then you just answered your own question. What are the exact code numbers that your ecu is showing?
as for the 4200 RPM condition, it probably is the trouble code and the ECU reverts to a "safe mode" so it can operate until repaired.
