Default How to tell if it's W58 or R154?

So i'm looking to buy a 1jz sc and the seller doesn't know what tranny it is. He said it came from a JDM MK3 supra which would mean it's an R154, but i'd really like to make sure.

Anyone know?

Thanks,
Elliott

JDM MKIII had W58's too.

One is big and fat, one is not so much.

Wasn't the JZA70 the only MK3 with the 1jz? It was only offered with the R154 I though. The W58 came on the 1G and 7M-GE...

Or am I completely wrong?

Also am I going to have to jack the car up or what? There's no way to tell from under the boot or or anything?

i think the best way is to jack it up and take a look at the orientation of the slave cylinder. one is pull and the other is push (sorry, forgot of hand but u can probably search for this).

I agree. The easiest way to tell from under that car is to check the slave cylinder.
