Cool ~ 1JZGTE in a SC3 ~

Hello everyone and thanks for looking! This is going to be my 1JZGTE build thread. Please feel free to give me lots of advice and comments. I just recently picked up a semi-complete 1JZGTE. I've always been looking into a USDM 2JZGTE and was hoping to have that instead so I dont really know much about the 1JZGTE in an SC300.

First off I have a 1993 SC300 5 Speed. Its got about 300,000 miles on it. The 1JZGTE has about 45-50,000 miles on it and came off an MK3 Supra. It has the uncut wiring harness and ECU. Its missing the cam gears, power steering pump, A/C compressor, drive belt tensioner, valve cover, and one of the little buckets that sit on top of the valve on the head. Im sure its missing a couple other small items which I at this point dont really mind replacing.

My goal is to have this complete swap up and running by October for Supras Invades Las Vegas 2009. Im out there almost every year with my Supra friends and I see a few turbo SCs out there also. Im hoping to have at least 500hp but for the most part I just want to motor up and running and in my SC. I do plan on using my W58 with a solid hub 6 puck clutch. If it blows then it blows.

The Plan. The motor is basically already taken apart. The block is separated from the head, manifold and turbos are off. I want to get both the blockand the head cleaned out by a machine shop. The cylinder walls look like they are smooth as silk and in great shape. Im going to be getting the engine gasket kit and replace every seal and gasket while the motor is out. I know Driftmotion and I are going to become very good friends pretty soon.

Here are a few pictures of what I have. Sorry about the Blackberry quality but feel free to leave me with advice and comments. Thanks for your support!

Yeah thats what Ive been told. But another friend with an MK4 told me that the harness will work as long as I have the original ECU that goes with it. What parts of the harness will have to be rewired?

yea the ecu and all that will work but all of the dash plugs will need rewired. a soarer harness dash plug are all direct plug in where as the MK3 supras have to get rewired to work.

Good luck brother!

It'll all be worth it when your done. From what I've read the plugs are going to be your biggest issue.

Might think about Phoenix Tuning to make sure your not parked for a while.

Who are they and what do they do? Im thinking about sending the harness out to get done to eliminate some of the wiring headaches.

http://www.phoenixtuning.com/

He goes by Dr. Tweak on Supraforums. He's a very nice guy to chat with about the different aspects of your swap.

He says he can make the airbag work too so that it's not disabled.

Give him a call.

+1 for DR. Tweak, he made my patch harness to go from soarer 1jz to a 2jz-GTE for a AEM EMS system. only thing is price. you could probably get a complete soarer harness for almost half the price.
