Default Is the cams in time or am I one tooth off?

I have never had this much trouble setting the timing. My lines have always lined up but these seems to not want to. It is when I put the tensioner on, it pulls both cam gears back a little. I have tried to compensate for it but still have not got them to line up perfectly - they are actually like 1/2 tooth off. thoughts...

This is not my first time doing this and I am feeling like a newbie LOL

Then it looks like the belt just hasnt relaxed. (To me) It looks fine, I would run it see how it runs. If it runs fine, wait after the motor has ran for awhile and warmed the belt up, then recheck it. Its so damn close, its not going to hurt the motor for a short fire up.

If it is off, the cam may be resting on a lobe. I had this happen before and it made the part of the belt between the gears look loose.

Your positive youre on TDC? Meaning not a hair forward or back?

yea I am positive that it is at TDC. I kept checking that and checking the top. I am keeping the intake side tight and then putting the tensioner on. when I do that it tugs the gears back a little.

Well, then I would stick with my first assumption that the belt hasn't relaxed.

Wait for a few more opinions...you may get a difference

Good luck man...you'll be fine

turn the motor by hand a few times, and see if it gets closer, but it looks fine.
