Default Need a little knowledge on a PS problem

My problem is this: When weather is warm the car is fine/ a little loose in the steering for as long as I bought it a few months ago. When it gets cold the pump or rack makes a bad wining noise under low speed turning. What does the weather have to do with any thing?

my tt does that in 32F degree weather.. my friends TT does the same
i suspect it is the O-ring on the line from the reservvior tht goes into the top of the pump..i think its pulling a bit of air when cold(shrinks) and when it warms up,it expands.

theres also a valve on the rack itself..its plastic..check if its leaky..and .

Since my car is in Storage now,i wont be tackling this issue till march/april 09

butive heard its a common problem

is your PS pump slightly wet on top?? try bleeding it (both front wheels off the ground!,turn lock to lock like 50 times )

ive bled mie before, noise went away..but came back when the weather got chilly

let your car warm up before turning the steering wheel.....works every time...
