My SC 400 rearend went out
I have a 1992 the looks like crap but runs like a top. The car was purchased in pretty bad shape but the engine ran well. I have put 20k on it and it now has 198k miles on it. I have had all of the additional services on the car within this amount of time.
I am considering pulling the entire drive train and placing it in a resto rod. I would rather sell the entire car to someone who has an apreciation for these cars, but that doesn't seem to be that easy to do. I love these cars an could find another for the money and time that it would cost me to fix this one up into the condition that I would like to see it in. The part that sucks is that this car has current tags and cold AC.
I am so confused!!!!
So, I am open to your expert suggestions!
Thanks in advance!

rear end is easy. i blew mine up on the sc300. replaced it once. then replaced it again with a welded.
if its your first time doing it and have some knowledge of car and tools the job should not take you more then 3-4 hours.
after "practicing" i can have the diff out of the car on the ground in 28 minutes

it will get side ways on you when you want to get sideways. you have to be able to feel the car. when you feel the shifting and slight sliding you counter steer.
you have to be touchy with the gas. if you give too much you will kick out the back end. i have no problem driving fast and turning with a welded in wet or dry. you just have to get use to it. its not like you take any turn and it will slide out on you. only if you gun it good around every turn

Welded here.
It's not the tail out oversteer you have to worry about, it's the under steer on slippery surfaces when you turn the front wheels.
Nothing a little throttle can't help though!
Plus it does save a ton of loot, and actually turns both tires. I agree with 5sp_JZZ30.

Its pretty straight forward. I have done two. They are torques down quite a bit. use common tools and you will be set. No biggie, if the bolts are not rusted in there. I say fix it and continue to drive it.
