Default RPMS go up when I turn the steering wheel

I have no idea what is causing this or how bad it is, but I highly doubt it's normal. Last night I was at the drive up waiting in line to get my caffeine fix and I turned my steering wheel to the right with my foot on the break and the RPM's went up by almost 150. I turn the steering wheel to the left and the same thing, I put the wheels back to straight and the idle stayed at 300-500..............I have no idea what the deal is, any thoughts?

first of all your idle is pretty low. it should be at 750-900 range. thats normal. and to yoru problem, for automatics. turning the steering wheel raises the idle by around 150 rpms. just as tldriver said, so your okay bro

lol yeah I know I have been trying to figure out why my idle is so low, I have already replaced my battery, but I'm not if its my alternator or something else.

it's the idle up switch, because the powersteering pump is kicking over so it's normal

it's because the power steering has variable power steering which means lower rpms the more it turns so it uses vacuum pressure. Going to a SS line was one of my favorite mod

It is meant to to do this.Just like the ac the powersteering has a idle up feature too. This is why you have vac lines on there.

This might be a really stupid question, but what benefits are there to doing such a mod?

Well you get to eliminate a nice long vacuum line that goes from intake to variable power steering to manifold. From my experiece the vehicle turns better aswell.
