Default trouble identifying an underhood part

Near the drivers fender and in front of the brake booster, there is a tall cylindrical part with a fitting on top and a steal line running to a small motor right behind and down of it. Looks like something I would like to be able to delete.

Are you talking about the brake master cylinder?

It's a pressure accumulator for the TRAC system if your car has it.
When wheelspin is detected, the car routes pressure from that canister to the spinning rear wheel to slow it down, while simultaneously cutting the throttle by closing the secondary throttle plate.
