For NA cars do you need to add a resister when doing a EGR blockoff, to prevent throwing a code? I'm searching and getting conflicting info!

Then yes you need to put in the resistor to prevent from throwing a code. Where did you get your plates from? I am thinking about making my own soon.

no you still need a resistor.I have an NA and i throw the code now.....i need to hurry up and intall the resistor,because the idle is a little low.The code comes on when your engine gets warm.

Here in chicagoland anything 96 and newer is subject to OBD2 scanner emissions. I did the PHR plates and the radioshack resistor on my 97 and it has never coded. Big brother requires emission testing around here every two years. I've passed twice so far...the second time with a rear O2 simulator (sshhh, our little secret)! I feel bad for you cali guys with visuals though... that sux

Dosent lextreme or one of the after market Lexus suppliers sell a kit. I thought it would raise head temps to much.

This might be a stupid question but, is the resistor installed into the EGR temp sensor circuit?

I've had my EGR off for awhile now. I plugged the top half of the valve in to keep the CEL from coming on straight away but it will still come on after a few highway cruises.

If I'm not mistaken, the ECU uses the temp sensor to determine if the EGR is actually doing anything........?????

Yeah,The temp sensor checks the temperature of the egr gasses.The resistor must be used on the temp sensor plug, not the sensor itself.You are basicaly fooling it from the plug by changing the ohms/wats.

LOL actualy i removed my EGR a month ago but i forgot which plug takes the resistor. I got the resistor in my glove compartment but not sure what plug to plug it.

Could anyone help us poor guys?
