Default mystery part...

Quick question... what is the wire and rubber housing that goes into the top of the coolant reservoir called? i am leaking some reddish fluid from there and want to look for a replacement part but have no idea what it is called...

i have an sc400...

coolant level sensor. and the redish stuff is coolant. most likely toyota red stuff.

Yeah what he said. The gasket must be going bad or you have too much coolant in the reservoir thats why it is overflowing.

Usually when you have to much coolant itll release it via the hose near the cap.

but if its leaking through the sensor.. just means its old n needs to be replaced.

get creative and find your own fix. i would just pull the sensor and call it a day. plug the hole with something. SC300's dont have it anyways

all it does is tell you that the reservoir coolant is low. not a big deal. i do a quick check of fluids on my car on weekly basis anyways

Take it off over another SC 400 since you don't want to get a new one. Go to a yard.

so if the hose next to the resevoir cap is leaking coolant (the one that just hangs down and doesnt connect to anything at the bottom) how do you get the extra coolant outta ur resevoir so it stops leaking?
