Need gated shifter help!! Can't get gears and shifter to match
Okay, here's my dilemma, I can't seem to get the gears to line up correctly with my shifter. Whenever I am in park on the shifter, I am actually only in Neutral.
The slot where I bolt the shifter to shift linkage, do you normally bolt it right in the middle, towards the back (rear of car) or towards the front (engine)?? I've tried all three ays, and when I push it down and bolt everything up, the gears are all messed up.
How did you guys do it? I don't have any way to get to it from underneath the car. I gotta get this working tonight. Please help!!

Yeah, I read that post up and down, and got nothing. Anyways, I figured it out. The shift linkage rod on my 92 SC300 was too long for the gated shifter assembly. I had to use this bracket thing in order to get it to reach. By just bolting it up w/out the bracket, I was never able to get the gears to align.

I ran into the same thing when I did the shifter mod. I used a carb linkage extender from autozone to shorten by about a half of an inch. Worked like a charm. Now lets see some pics

Sorry, I forgot about this thread. I don't remember the part number I used, but I'll post up some pics tonight after work.
Ok here is the part is used, Edlebrock part #8012. Don't know why I still have this lying around.

well i'm trying to understand how it works, and how you would install it. I saw a picture of the part, but I can't tell how that would help. I'm usually pretty innovative , but that kinda boggled me. When I tried to install mine I could never get it into first or park cause it seemed like the linkage was to long and the shifter would just stop. I know some of what I'm doing cause I got the old shifter back in and it works like a charm still.
