Default Wrap or stock heat shield?

This might be a stupid question but can I remove the heat shield from the exhaust manifold and wrap it? The reason why I'm askong is because I will be replacing my exhaust manifold gasket and I noticed the heat shield is separating at the welds, so instead of buying new shields I was just going to wrap them.

Oh this stock on the 2JZGE
