Aristo cam swap
I have a set of usdm cams that I wanted to put in my motor and get rid of the jdms. I know they arent the sickest cams out there but I was wondering if anyone around here has swapped them into there JDM motor around here. I just need help with the shim sizing and lash measurements Im not really familiar with it.

if you dont know how shimming cams works maybe you shouldnt be doing the swap. its an easy job and you have to be careful and pay attention while doing it. its easy to get right and VERY easy to get wrong and screw things up.
btw you probably wont find all that info here. supraforums is your best bet.
i would explain it all to you but right now i dont have time and pictures or a phone conversation makes things a lot easier then forum chat.

Im sure there was a point in time when you didnt know how to do something as well. That wouldnt discourage me from doing the project I just want to make sure Im educated before hand. And unfortunatly the search function is down so the site isnt much help unless I have hours at hand to read countless threads.
I would asume that I have to:
Measure the lash when the current cams are in and record the data
take them out and measure shim width and record the data
Put the new cams in there and measure the difference in lash
make up for the difference in lash with the right sized shims
done?
Do the cams have to have the same value or gap as the previous?

w/ the assembly lube.

you can take the shims off after you do the cams its a bit tricky but do able very time consuming and yes if you want you can do the shims and bucket in the oil but really jst the shims unless you took out the buckets plus after your done you can lightly dribble oil across the cams and the shims at the same time to keep things nice and lubed
