Default torsen or kaaz 2way lsd?

im stuck on the decision of two, the torsen lsd or the 2way kaaz lsd. tops ill be getting around is maybe 400whp but not for awhile. im just on top of stock for now. i heard you have to frequently change the lsd fluid in the kaaz? is that true? but what about the torsen? what do you think guys?

i personally have a Kaaz 2way Lsd and love it. as far as fluid change you should consider what you do with it. if you drift every month or road race alot then i would change it after each event. if you dont do those then id probably just change it 2 times a year. as far as torsen it would be better for DD cars, it wont clunk or make noises when you drive and you really never need to change the fluid in it. hope that helps you.

by clunking he means that it sounds like it is about to break lol

first time, a while ago, i had to drive an s13 with a kaaz and i was scared than the diff will drop out of the car. when you make turns slowly the diff locks and unlocks causing noise.

personally i dont think its a big deal at all...but then again i have been driving on a welded diff for like a 1.5 years and im not complaining. 2 way would be better for drift. torsen is nice for road racing too.

tomei makes a nice 2way for our cars. direct drop in. doesnt really clunk as much as the kaaz.

like 5sp_jzz30 said when you go to make a sharp turn the 2 way clutch type will make a lot of noise basically like the car is going to fall apart. the noise is just the clutch packs in the diff locking and unlocking.

what are you plans with the car?

as far as my car its running good. it was a bad ignition that put the car outta commission. i installed my boost controller today so it will be fun driving it tomorrow and ill have my AEM EMS next week =)

haha yeah i figured. idk if you remember 5sp_jzz30 but i was the one who asked you about the welded diff haha. as for me, main purpose is for DD, but forsure some events with drifting. so would the torsen be for me?

I'm in the exact same boat. I'm on the fence between the Kaaz 2way and a TRD Torsen Diff. The Torsen retrofit into a stock SC pumpkin is much cheaper than the Kaaz retro. I've seen them go for $150 for just the diff. Blizzy dropped one into the SC pumpkin no prob.

if you guys dd with few events in mind id just do the torsen. if you do events every month then go for kaaz. you can still drift well on a torsen.

torsens are nice becuase they are kinda set it and forget it. once you put it in you really dont have to do anything at all...

with a kaaz you put it in, break it in, change the fluid, do a event, change the fluid and so on and usaly the end of the year (some times longer) depending on usage you should rebuild it.

you dont really have to change the fluid that often. most guys i know that only drift their cars change fluid every 2-3 drift days. if you solely daily drive then you can do it once a year. at least thats my experience with the tomei lsd.
