Default RPM Meter Dosn't COme?!?!?

Dude i turn on my car and then drove it while it was still cold i guess and my rpm meter didn't move. i stopped at a stop light and turn off and on the car again still no good wdf?! then about 2 mins later the meter came back to normal. Any of these syntoms sounds familiar?
