What are the symptoms of too much tranny fluid in a w58??

open the fluid fill plug on the tranny and see if any fluid comes out. If you have a ton of fluid spilling out you have too much fluid in there. I dont know of any physical symptoms though...

there are vents in the trans. if you have way too much fluid it will start coming out eventually. at least some of it.

take out the fill plug. if the fluid is pouring out then drain it until none is coming out of the fill plug.

I just found the total fluid amount, it is 2.7 qts (2.6 L for you metric folks).

I ask because when it's cold out, I get a slip around 2-3k rpm but after like ten minutes or so it goes away and drives fine. I'm thinking I have too much tranny fluid in or it might just be my crappy clutch slave cylinder.

Uh, manual trannies don't slip. Must be your clutch.

Open the fill hole on the side of the tranny and let drain out.
