Serpentine belt pully went bad tonight....
Started with screeching and then grinding. Suspected that it might be that particular pulley. When I pulled over (my mom's driveway) and popped the hood the pulley was wobbling and bits of glitter sized metal were spewing out of it. I stopped the car and went back to inspect. The pulley is quite loose. The bearing are obviously completely gone.
The irony is that I ordered this pulley along with the TB pulley's last week when I ordered everything to change the timing belt.
But now I'll have to get it fixed sooner because I'm 160 miles from home.
Does anyone know if this pulley is something you can get at any auto parts store or is it a toyota only special order part?
It looks like it should be fairly easy to change without a lot of tool....I hope.

Talk about simplicity. Only one belt vs 3 on the Nissan. And a tensioner that is spring loaded vs one you have to adjust. I broke down at my moms and she doesn't really have any tools. But she does have one ratchet with 3 sockets and one of those sockets happen to be a 14mm deep socket. It took about 60 seconds to remove the idler and put it back on.
So I found a Lexus dealer that actually has the part in stock. It's about 5 miles from work(60 miles from where I'm currently at). I'm having the car towed on my AAA + which gets me 100 miles free.

Just left the dealership about 20 minutes ago. Took all of about a minute to change. The car was dropped off right in front of the service checkin. Several service writers and other employees came out to watch me change it. They probably felt I was rubbing their nose in it because just an hour before, one of the service writers told me over the phone that it would be $155 in labor and $69 for the part. I said but it's only a couple of minutes to change. They have a minimum of 1 hour and they charge $155 an hour.
Thank god the car is actually really a Toyota.

I know this is an old thread, but this just happened to my 95 sc400. I was able to press the bearing out of the pulley, and replace it. It was very easy and saved me a lot of money. The bearing was $4 dollars and a new belt $11.99. I don't know if this has been posted before searching is hard to do on my BlackBerry.
