Bettery Light on....
Yesterday my bettery light turned on and kept flickering between on and off. I got home and checked the terminal cable and it was lose. I tightened it and the light went away. This morning drove to work no light. On the way back in the evening the light came on. I took it the a local machanic so he could tighten the cable properly which he did. But the light stays on until I raise the RPM to 2500 at which point it goes away. The machanic check the load and said the alternator in charging as it should. Is he right? Could it be something else? Everything else work as normal....
Thanks for the help!!

Check the voltage on the battery when the engine is idling with a multimeter. Then check it with the engine rpm around 2000-3000. It should read around 13.5-14.5v. If it goes too far below 13v, the light will come on. Like around 12.3v or lower.
I've had a car that read very low at idle and shot up to 17v when I brought the RPMs up. That is a bad alternator. It eventually overcharged the battery and killed it along with the alternator.
Make sure the terminals are clean and tight. Then check the voltage. Hope this helps

check your power steering pump and that its not leaking onto the alternator... i had that problem and therefore my alternator was getting zapped basically and screweing up....my battery light kept going on and off....its a weird but posible problem.....

I dont really have much else to say. everyone pretty much hit the nail on the head.
Whoever mentioned checking the alt. belt also didnt ask what kind of Lex do you have? If its a 300, the alt. is driven by a serp belt, and a loose belt could be due to a tensioner starting to take a crap.
