Default 1JZ w/ SC stock Auto Trans

Just curious, I've been doing some searching for the past few weeks and I know it's not popular at all. However, I'm just curious to see if the gurus out there know of any issues of using the stock SC3 auto trans with a 1JZ motor?

I spoke with Aaron at Driftmotion and he was mentioning that the plugs are different, which doesn't seem like a big deal as the old ones could be used.

Does anyone else know of anything that would cause this to be a big pita?

Thank you very much! If this has already been covered I apologize, I only found two threads from back in '06 and they had one response which wasn't very definitive.

Thank you very much for the response.

Did you have any issues with the plugs going to the trans? There was mention that they wouldn't match up correctly with the 1JZ.

All the plugs should plug right up .I think the 1j tranny has a extra sensor which the 2jzge does not have. It was unplugged on mines and never caused a problem.

Thank you very much, I'm in the works of getting a 1J engine. I just had some unanswered questions that I couldn't locate in the 1J threads. 99% of the people are either 5spd or swap to 5spd. I just don't feel like going through that at the moment. I'll save that for a later date

The sc300 transmission is not a strong as the soarer transmission thats why people usually go 5 speed or use the soarer transmission.Me myself had issues with my auto on my stock sc.

that's what I've read as well. If I can get a smoking deal on a combo I'll probably go for it, but for the time being it will work. What issues did you have with your auto when you swapped over?

Apparently there's two types of auto gearboxes depending on what model year 1JZ motor you get (at least from a Soarer, that is).

Does the SC300 have an A340E as the auto gearbox? I'm pretty sure that's what the NA Soarers have.

My old gearbox crapped itself (93 Soarer GT-T, auto)

From what I understand, the 2jz-ge tranny starts to go at ~300hp and the 1jz tranny starts to go at ~450.

sounds like it should do fine if you keep the 1jz stock, which is my plan for awhile. Then if I upgrade I'm gonna go manual
