Coolant splatter from Fan/Water pump Pulley *PICS*
Last night I heard ticking noise coming from the engine bay. Ticking would speed up as RPM climbs. It would come and go.
So this morning I had the chance to check to see what it was and had noticed dried up coolant splatter coming from the fan/water pump pulley.
Went on a test drive but the ticking noise is not there anymore.
I was wondering if anybody can fill me in on how/why coolant is coming out from there?
Is this a replaceable part or would i have to replace the whole waterpump.
Here are some pictures.
Picture from behind the fan/water pump pulley. you can see the dried up coolant on pulley.
Picture of splatter on intake.. also had splatter on the serpentine belt tensioner but not in picture.

Rule of thumb is.. if you need a waterpump, you need a timing belt too. Total cost in parts for the pump and timing belt is under $100, and you're looking at about 2hrs of labor with basic mechanical knowledge. It's the easiest car in the world to do this kind of work on, don't be scared.
