MAP ECU Users
For those of you who use(d) the MAP ECU piggy back system, did you hardwire it into your harness or did you pick up a plug and play harness from autosportwiring.com ?

I bought a patch harness and am in the process of finishing the wiring, id rather mess up a patch harness than the original engine harness in case I have a change of mind later on. Im sure I could repair my harness very easily but I have too many bad experiences with not taking extra precautions. dont pay too much for the plug and play harness, research wiring and try practicing on some scrap wires you'll save a lot of money and its fairly easy just very time consuming.

so i finally got it in, the patch harness is about 8in in length and the extra wires actually ended up being to bulky and I had to trim the protective cover that goes over the ecu, I also couldnt mount it the way I had it before (ecu).
Did everyone start off with that medium boost jdm 2jzgte map, Im having difficulty with this I dont have a wide band to make proper adjustments, modifications are pretty much stock except for intercooler exh and etc. no injectors or big turbo yet. with that base map i set the map clamp at 4.3 and yet for whatever reason I get a hardcore cut around 5k rpm and a check engine light for a few seconds. the cut is not at the same rpm range as the stock boost cut and is way harder. my stock boost cut would rumble and break up around 4k. any input would be great or if you have a base map I could use. I have a 91 1jz fyi.
thanks Gabe.

i just wired it into the stock harness. there is really no way you can mes it up. just take the neg side of battery off before doing any work on it and solder all your wires

doest MAP-ECU control timing as well?? If so then then theres a big difference between that and an SAFC

Im using the map ecu (2), its the newer version and can do alot more than the original. the emanage ultimate is similar with a few more capabilities. I can also type the exact voltage outputs of the map sensor an safc is a blind 50 point adjustment. an electronic boost controller alone is about half the cost, add timing control + data logging + launch control + wider adjustment range and many other things and its pretty good bang for your buck and meets my tuning needs. they also provide good support...... after data logging i finally got rid of my cut, the base map was running high volts and the tps trim would put it into the boost cut (4.4).
