Default Negative effects of exhaust leak?

I have an exhaust leak at the passenger exhaust manifold that I can hear...

What are the negative effects that this would have?

So far I have attributed a few things to it...

The tach is steady but the car bounces as it idles (like it has cams)
**** poor gas mileage
just a flat out annoying sound when its idling

Any suggestions on how to go about fixing it? Is it a possible DIY job? Are there gaskets available for that manifold? Is it hard to get that area?

is it where the manifold attaches to the head? or further down where it attaches to the cats. the manifold gasket is a bit of a job to do, but the one further down is cake.

Exhaust leaks can trip the knock sensor, and if its before or around the O2 sensor, then closed-loop will be screwy because the air is escaping before it is measured.

It also sounds like crap
