What to do
I pretty much messed up my motor, i was changing my plugs and I guess something fell in to the hole and when i tried to crack it all i heard was something banging and pinging. I check the plugs and one of them is messed up, the top is plug is completely flat
Anyways i was wondering if I should buy a 2jzgte motor and use my w58(i think they mate together I don't know a deff answer) or do you guys think my block is ok and just get a gte head. I was planing going NA-T in the long run. Just wanted to get some feedback on what you guys would do. I'm kinda on a budget also, im still in college

pull the plug out and use one of those thin magnets and stick into the combustion chamber to pull what ever it is out and put a new spark plug in there and see if it runs right. Who knows you may get lucky.

I actually shine a flashlight in there and i can see small holes in the top of the piston head.............. it sure doesn't look like any the rest of them, because at first I wasn't aware that something dropped in there

Before you go chasing another motor down, do a leakdown test and a compression test. I've seen this happen, and while the piston gets a beat up a bit, the motor ends up being fine. If it's messed up, then you already know the drill.

Ya i'm afraid I let it run too long, it won't start, wont even crank. I tried searching with a magnet thingy in the chamber and got nothing, Shine a flashlight down there and it was ugly. Anyone know any vendors that sell good pistons for cheap?? Thinking i might fully build the motor instead of doing a swap, you guys think the block and head is still good?

i would think even with a bent valve and a busted piston at the worst, it should still crank...may run like straight crap, but hey..
and if you didnt find anything with the magnet, could be 1 of 2 things...it either shaved and scored, and destroyed itself into the piston/side of the block/or the spark plug, OR its in your oil pan...
drop the pan, strain the oil, then start at the head..rip it apart is the only 100% sure fire way to see the extent of the damage, and what will need to be replaced.
i would say the block could be machined if its not to bad..go old school, bore it 30over, and order pistons to match..then go from there

what i see is a set of Bosch plugs. I have heard a few horror stories about these little guys doing serious damage and it may be the cause of your problem. Try another set of plugs and do a leakdown test just to be 100% sure the motor is toast.
The W58 can bolt up to the 2JZGTE, but i wouldn't reccomend it, it might not stand up to the punishment, but there are some NA-T guys who run it with 400hp, no probs.

Prob a dumb question but is there a DIY pull of the head ... I can see the head studs and such but don't know what tool to use. The sockets are too big
Thanks for the help guys
