95 SC400 gets 20 mpg
I see a lot of debates about gas mileage with our SCs. I filled mine up 2 weeks ago, only drive 10 miles to work. Not using the AC, a lot of 60 mph driving, filled it back up and got 20.4. 128,000 miles, high-flow center cat., new plugs and wires.

93 SC4 stock specs and replacement parts 150K miles 93 octane Chevron or Amoco/BP and Valv dino 5w-30. 20-21 mpg around town, may be as low as 19.5 or so depending on really short hops (picking up kids, errands etc)
On a normally travelled 450 mile highway route with some small town traffic, just over 25 mpg after putting on the BFI ram air. Before BFI it was always 24 mpg. I'm not saying the BFI had anything to do with it especially since I've only driven it once on that trip since adding it, but it is nice to break 25 mpg finally.
Have always watch mileage closely to know when something might be wrong with any of my cars, not so much for gas savings (until recently).
I think the way people drive has a huge impact on gas mileage. Two people can drive the same car and get totally different gas mileage depending on how smooth and smart they drive.

I'm just glad it doesn't get like 6 or 8 MPG like some American V8s get.

is the reason our scs get such bad mpg because of the cars weight or natural inefficiency of the engine?
using 93 octance i get about 20mpg avg in the city.
ive taken out my spare tire and back seats ot lighten up the weight, maybe itll go up a bit?

Weight reduction will always improve fuel economy. I doubt you really see any difference though since the back seats hardly weigh anything and the spare tire isn't all that hefty either. I have a lot of weight out of my car and I still have back seats because the tiny amount of weight gone wasn't really enough to justify it.
