Default Transmission Removal Thread?

I used the Search feature, Im removing a 95 Lexus SC400 Transmission to replace the seal between engine and tranny, was looking for a tutorial or something couldn't find anything, I wanted to know if anyone had any better luck on it, If not 2morrow I can make a tutorial as I battle lol taking mine off...

i hope your talking about the rear main seal, because there's no other seal between the engine and trans, in that case i hope you know that you also need to remove the flexplate

well its automatic ...... and isnt rear main seal for engine oil? because im leaking transmission oil between engine and tranny

Depending on the color of the oil. Black or dark oil is from the engine rear main seal. If it is redish, then its the tranmission front seal. There are TWO seals between the engine and transmission. One for the engine and one for the transmission.

ok thanks lextreme, I guess it would make sense to change them both while im in there... Its redish oil... so im guessing its the front transmission seal... Ill buy the rear main seal, Im at 267k so I guess Ill wait to blow the V8 to swap in the 2j
