Questions about 1JZGTE Swap?
I have a question regarding a 1jzgte engine, i apologize if this is in the wrong section and I have used the search button... I know more people are dying to know about this... Im sorry if i missed the sticky, if there was one... can people kindly point me in the right direction if i did..
I just want some opinions on this deal??
I have a 97 sc300 manual, and someone in my area is selling a 1jzgte from an automatic soarer... He said that I could take everything in from the engine compartment and all the wiring, minus the transmission for 700.. might have been 800..
Can anyone tell me all the hidden costs (new parts and stuff) beside the fact that im going to have to extend wires and the actual labor from the swap...
Also, what are the probabilities I can get rid of my old engine (just did the big maintenance on it last year, cost about $2000)
thanks

Well, there's going to be an intercooler, spark plugs, fluids, engine mounts, water pump, throttle cable, and (if not already owned) jacks, jack stands, engine lift, soldering tool, and appropriate wrenches, screwdrivers, etc. .......... And a whole lot of patience.
I'm sure there are more things that I am forgetting, but these are a lot of the basic things you will need.

but, $700 for everything butthe tranny is a pretty good deal, especially since he's local, you dont have to worry about getting scammed. I would say buy it, and the swap isnt too hard, just have maybe another $700 - $1000 laying around for related costs if your doing the swap yourself not including any extra go fast goodies you want also
