Pictures of my 98 SC400 custom made BFI snorkel--Hope it works!!
Here is an early glimpse of the custom snorkel that we have been fabricating for my car. The design will allow us to easily remove it whenever necessary. I hope this BFI design of ours is beneficial. This is just the mold that we are making. I have tried posting BFI related questions for 98-00 SC400's and never really got any feedback. So we decided to try and make more of a direct air intake into the modified stock air box. If it doesn't work we can always do the same one as everyone else. We will also be using ABS to block off the battery side behind the front bumper cover, as well as modifying the lower plastic shroud that directs air directly into the radiator, so that more cold air will be directed towards this modified snorkel. Never tried anything like this before and now I know why. I can't believe how time consuming this mod has been. This mod is still in the prototype phase as you guys can see. The large open area is what will be connected directly to the modified stock air box and the area with the down arrow will be cut out and positioned directly in the path of incoming air from behind the center portion of the bumper cover. This much larger snorkel of course fits directly behind the passenger headlight. So this will be an airtight snorkel with little chance for the warmer air from the motor to compromise the performance gains of this BFI mod. The engine bay will also have the added benefit of appearing completely bone stock.

Well guys, this 98 SC400 that I purchased for my father has been with this painter since December of 2007. I am about to go postal on this guy. He has completely base coat and clear coated this car in Toyota black twice. Both times as soon as the car was parked out in the sun a condition known as chemical popping occurred which left my paint looking like someone squirted armor all all over the paint and let it dry out in the sun. There was a HALO or oil spill effect underneath the clear coat. He has tried everything over the past few months. The poor guy probably has 250+ hours into the first two paint jobs already not to mention the custom fabrication of this one of a kind BFI that we made. The third paint job started with a COMPLETE CHEMICAL STRIP of the car to bare metal. He was trying to talk me into going SINGLE STAGE BLACK paint but I said noway in Hell after paying for paint and chemicals 3 times NOW!! So in a rash and pissed off quick decision I decided to go ahead and have him paint this car 98 Supra QUICK SILVER. So far every plastic piece on the car has been painted and cleared. It looks awesome. I am still UN-PATIENTLY waiting for this car to finally be completed. What a frickin nightmare. I really like this guy and his perfectionism when he is actually working on my car. I have hundreds of pictures of this car during it's several different stages of paintwork over the past 16 or so months. Today my EASTWOOD fender roller is due to arrive and I will actually be going over there to roll the fenders on my father's 98 SC400 as well as my black on black 98 Toyota Supra TT 6speed. I always wanted a 98 QUICKSILVER SUPRA and now my father will at least have that beautiful color car. I hope he does not mind that I changed the color of the car that I purchased for him. I can't wait to see his eyes when he takes the car cover off-----SOME DAY WHEN THIS CAR IS FINALLY COMPLETED!!!!!!
