Documentation of R154 swap w/ pics
Hi there guys,
Well, some mod decided he is funny, be a fa* and delete half of the stuff I took hours to post up, then close the thread so I couldn't add it back. So everyone of the SC3/SC4 performance section can thank your awesome moderators of this particular section for being so good to you guys. Thank you Shern, Blizzy, vipsoarer, and others I have forgot that added relevant information to this thread. It's too sad that it all went to waste. **** you CL.
Jon

That black inspection cover that you needed to swap. What is the significance? I don't have a w58, but I do have an r154 that already came with the JZ bellhousing along with 2 of its own inspection plates. Also, since I am doing an auto to manual swap at the same time, I had to source a master cyl. Yet the Mk3 master cyl that I bought, btw it looks like the one in your picture, did not fit the cut out at all. I had to source an sc300 one. I don't know if it was an error on my part, but it definately did not fit. So I myself cannot vouch for the compatibility. However, I can vouch for the master cyl that I did succesfully install. Which is from an sc300 and looks like the following:
In the end I speculate, as long as it fits, a master cyl is a master cyl is a master cyl. So hopefully you have more luck than I did

It looks good so far. Maybe add in from the other post about the second way to make the shifter fit by welding in the extension to the shifter so there are two options, modify the shifter assembly or modify the shifter housing? I wish I had a digital camera so I could help out with this more. Again, nice job.

Great to see a definitive thread directed towards utilizing a R154 in the SC. I myself will soon swap my wack W58 for the R154 before going single.
One of the major issues, as you mentioned, is extending the shifter location rearward to line up with the shifter boot in our SC. I know of 4 different solutions to extending the shifter back:
1) Manually extend the shifter and shifter housing (vipsoarer)
Solution to soarer r154
2) Manually convert the MK3 R154 to an early model Soarer swan style shifter using Toyota OEM parts (blizzy)
The start of some V8 madness
3) Manipulate the shifter back by bending it to better align with the shift boot (Blk97SC300 )
R154 shifter extension- Possible alternative?
4) Have Tech2Motorsports do the extension for you
Tech 2 Shifter Extension
I think that Blizzy's method is the most elegant and cost effective. If there are more options, please list them.

what pedals can you get or do you half to get the exact ones from a sc 300 where i come from "ottawa" u cant just find these at a random Junk yard....
R154 transmission
1jz bellhousing
1jz flywheel
Clutch master cyclinder from MKIII (turbo or non, doesnt matter)
Slave cylinder from MKIII (turbo or non, doesnt matter)
Stainless Steel braided clutch line (optional)
Still needing:
clutch setup for MKIII (must be MKIII)
Front halfshaft from R154
W58 transmission mount
Bellhousing bolts from W58 or R154 ( you cannot use the autos as they are too long)
Brake Pedal, and Clutch Pedal
*FIXED*

jon there should be two bolt holes prestamped into the firewall that should be drilled out along with the center hole for the piston to move. I havent used the mk3 pedal only the sc set so I am going on a guess, but i would assume the #2 sensor is the neutral switch which you should be able to wire into the harness. #1 has me wondering but I will see if I can dig something up.
