Default New MAF needed for OBD code 31?

my car has been having some bucking issues...that would throw a CEL intermittently...mostly when I'd let off the gas.

well I pulled the code & checked out what it is (thanks to the info contained on this site!) and it is code 31 (low signal from MAF)

well I tried cleaning the MAF and the problem got worse...

tried cleaning it again and now the CEL is always on.

I have a MAF being delivered today possibly, but I'm just curious if this code could point to anything other than needing a new MAF itself?

Default

Code 31 is only affiliated with either a bad AFM or wiring connecting to the AFM... should fix the problem, if it doesnt... check for good continuity between the connector and the ECU pins.
